Gabriel Jackson’s Spring Rounds’ receives world premiere

Spring Rounds, a half-hour piece for soprano, choir and orchestra was commissioned by Latvian youth choir Kamēr… for their 25th anniversary and uses 16th – 20th century English texts and a folk poem in Latvian.
The performance on May 25th 2015 was the third part of a sold-out concert, staged by Rēzija Kalniņa, where Jackson was the only non-Latvian to contribute to the celebrations.
In Diena, Latvia’s leading national newspaper, critic Inese Lusiņa spoke of “the most carefully developed orchestral party”. Broadcast live on Latvian Radio 3, the concert was also recorded for future TV transmission.
Speaking about the project Jackson commented “I love Latvia and I love Kamēr…, one of the great choirs of the world. It is pure pleasure to work with these wonderful young people.”
